Members-At-Large
The Articles of Organization were amended on October 8, 2006 and the voting precincts were reconfigured to permit eight Representative-at-Large positions for future terms. The reconfigured precincts are reflected as Exhibit E of our Articles of Organization and shown under the map tab at the top this page.
As the KCAC's purpose is to represent the best interests for the welfare of the village as a whole, individuals applying as Representatives-at-Large should be public spirited and not single issue individuals.
Each Representative-at-Large serves a two year tem commencing on July 1st of each even numbered year and ending on June 30th of the following even numbered year.
To be eligible to serve as a Representative-at-Large, the individual must be a registered voter and a resident of the area submitting the petition and must have been a resident of School District #38 for at least one (1) year as of the July 1st which begins the two (2) year term.
Representatives-at-Large may be selected by filing a petition with the Secretary-Treasurer of the Advisory Committee at least fifteen days prior to the first meeting of the term. Petitions which are submitted that date may be accepted by the Advisory Committee as long as any positions for Representatives-at-Large are unfilled in the respective precinct .
In the event that more than two (2) persons from a particular precinct petition as Representatives-at-Large, the two (2) persons designated from such precinct shall be the two (2) individuals with the greatest number of signatures of the registered voter residents residing in such precinct and/or in the section of School District #38 immediately adjacent to such precinct. In the event of a tie, please refer to the Articles of Organization.
The petition shall contain the signatures of at least fifteen (15) registered voter residents residing in the particular precinct and/or in the section of School District #38 immediately adjacent to such precinct.
No individual shall serve as a Representative-at-Large for more than four years in six consecutive years.
Each Representative-at-Large is expected to attend the KCAC meetings during the term and, if unable to attend, is responsible for finding an alternate to represent him or her at the meetings.
Each Representative-at-Large shall, as an obligation of membership in the Advisory committee, be available to serve and participate on at least one (1) committee. The committees of the KCAC are the Village Board, School Board, Park Board, Library Board, New Trier Caucus, and Nominating Committee.
