Kenilworth Citizens Advisory Committee

Welcome to our new Kenilworth Citizens' Advisory Committee website!

For sixty-seven years the Kenilworth Citizens' Advisory Committee has been serving our community by acting as a nonpartisan committee to suggest candidates to fill the offices of the public boards of the village. Over the years, there have been many changes to the organization, and this past year has been no exception. We have been working diligently to address issues and concerns raised by our members and the community, not the least of which has been to improve communications. We recently formed a commission of past presidents and representatives to study our articles of organization and to recommend amendments as well as changes in operating procedures. These revisions will be presented to the Advisory Committee at the first meeting of this term on Sunday, October 8th, 4:00 p.m., at the Kenilworth Assembly Hall. All of the Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.

In an effort to enhance communications, the commission recommended establishing this website where you will be able to easily access information regarding the Advisory Committee. The information available on this website will include KCAC meeting notices and agendas, the KCAC articles of organization, member and representative responsibilities, petitions for representatives-at-large, candidate applications, etc. In addition, there is also information about the purpose of the Advisory Committee, its procedures and method of operation, a list of upcoming vacancies for local public office, and a calendar showing the schedule of Advisory Committee activities.

Another recommendation of the commission for improving communication is to organize an "all village" meeting in January, where you will have an opportunity to meet the suggested candidates as well as hear presentations from the presidents of the various public boards of the village. Information regarding this meeting will be posted in December.

Subcommittees will soon be interviewing candidates for public office. If you are interested in being considered as a candidate or would like to propose a candidate, please write or telephone Deirdre von Moltke, Candidate Selection Committee Chair, 329 Warwick Road, Kenilworth, 847-251-9397. A candidate application form can be obtained from this website, which will need to be completed and returned to Deirdre before an interview may be scheduled.

A special note of thanks is extended to the members of the commission for their time and effort these past months. The members are Pat Babb, Scotty Baxter, Margaret Hastings, Randy Knowles, Rona Nordstrom, Fritz Thomas, Peter Tyor, and Jim Wilson. We hope that the recommendations from the commission will benefit the Advisory Committee so that it may continue to serve our community well.
